Who says you can’t have camp fun all year round?
The Activity Center is proud to offer Pop Up Day Camp on Monday, November 6 (SMMUSD holiday) and Friday, November 10 (Veterans Day) when most area schools are closed.
This program closely mimics our Summer of Fun Camp and operates from 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM with an extended day option available until 5:00 PM.
Each day our campers are treated to exciting games, crafts, art projects as well as off site activities at local parks, pools and beaches. We use a combination of public and private transportation for off-site activities.
Here’s everything else you will need to know.
STAFF
Our staff are caring and creative people who possess the qualifications to ensure that your child grows and thrives in a safe environment. Many are pre-school or elementary school teachers. At all times, at least one staff members present will be certified in CPR and First Aid. We strive to have a camper to counselor ratio of no approximately 8:1.
FORMS
There are a few forms that we will require prior to your child’s arrival at camp. Please be sure to complete the Emergency Contact & Waiver of Liability Form and return it prior to your first day of camp. One form can be used for up to two campers but will need to be updated every year. We will not be able to admit any child without all completed forms.
DROP OFF – PICK UP
We prefer you enter through the front door on Santa Monica Blvd. But if you are dropping off, and choose not to come in, you may also look for a staff leader with a sign in sheet directly in front of The Activity Center on Santa Monica Blvd.
EXTENDED CARE
Our camp program runs from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Campers who arrive more than 15 minutes early or are picked up more than 15 minutes late (3:30 PM) will be subject to a $10 Extended Care Fee. This amount can be paid at the time of registration or in person at drop off/pick up.
SIGN IN – SIGN OUT
All campers must be signed in and signed out by a parent/legal guardian or designated responsible adult. We will not release your child to anyone without your prior consent. Please remember to list the names of any adult authorized to pick up your child on your Waiver of Liability form. If you have a last minute change of plans and require your child to be picked up by someone else, please email us your written consent.
PARKING
There is a limited amount of parking in our lot located directly behind The Activity Center. Please access the lot through the alley between Centinela Avenue and Franklin Street. For security reasons, the rear doors to The Activity Center will be locked between the hours of 9:30 AM and 3:00 PM. Please enter through the front door on Santa Monica Blvd.
ELECTRONIC DEVICES
The Activity Center is full of fun and exciting experiences. Among our offerings are 6 large screen XBox/Wii/Playstation consoles and multiple Virtual Reality systems. While we invite our campers to enjoy these games at appropriate times, so we can focus the children on more traditional games and creative, group activities.
We also strongly discourage cell phones and electronic devices at camp. You can reach your camper in the event of an emergency by calling our main phone number at 310-907-7399.
The Activity Center is not responsible for loss or damage to any electronic devices brought to camp.
FOOD & BEVERAGES
As part of our daily curriculum, campers will be preparing their own lunches and snacks in our fully equipped teaching kitchen. Lunch, snacks and drinks (water/juice) are provided for all campers, however, if your child requires additional food/beverages throughout the day, we ask that you consider sending them along.
